Weight Loss And Health – Hand In Hand

Who said you have to compromise health for weight loss? You can be on the fast track to weight loss by following a healthy diet that suits your lifestyle. All those fad diets that promise overnight weight loss do not work. Neither will going on a short term crash diet. The first thing to understand is that our body will be able to handle only gradual changes, whether it is diet or physical workouts. Lets say you are not used to regular exercise. You must not attempt long distance running as your body will not be able take it.

The Slow And Steady Will Win The Weight Loss Race!

For those that enjoy eating constantly and frequently, it wont be easy to start starving yourself with the intention of weight loss. If physical exercise is not a routine habit, start with very short walks, increasing your pace and distance gradually. Better still, concentrate on exercising more and more while sticking to the same amount of food you eat. This will help your weight loss goal.

Exercise – How Do You Choose?

The best way to decide on your exercise routine is to pick something you really love to do. You must find it easy to do it without needing to strain yourself to do it because this will help you continue to do it consistently. If you love walking, go on longer walks. In fact, pack specific things to eat, so that you can keep track of your food intake.

Suppose you travel to work by bus, how about hopping off at a couple of stops earlier so that you can briskly walk to work part of the distance? If you often take the lift in your building, opt for the staircase instead.

If you have the habit of watching TV regularly, invest in one of those exer-cycles which you can pedal vigorously as you enjoy your favorite shows. You will neither have to miss TV nor miss out on your exercise time.

Watch Those Calories When You Want Weight Loss

One of the most effective ways to work at weight loss is to bring down the calorific value of your food. You can switch to healthier foods that are low on calories. Don’t believe those crash diets – they will only exhaust you. As if that were not enough, you will think twice about any kind of diet after that.

Bread, vegetables and fruits are a better option compared to fatty foods. You can drink water instead of juice and eat smaller quantities of your favorite foods. This will not make you feel deprived and you will find it easier to gradually make these changes.

How about maintaining a chart where you make a note of how much weight loss you have achieved on a weekly basis? This can be tremendously encouraging and will inspire you to stick to your routine.  You could even take a picture of yourself to keep you at it!

Weight loss needs patience and constant effort. But you will surely see the results you want.
